Common Repairs

Rehair.

Sometimes it’s obvious when you need to send your bow in for a rehair but other times we can get used to playing on old hair and forget to check the bow’s condition. Learn more here.

The normal turn around for rehairs is next day but if you’re in a rush, just make an appointment for a same-day rehair with no additional cost.

Grip.

Keeping your grip in good condition can both protect you and your bow.  That extra cushion acts as a grip and padding for your thumb as well as an important protection between your thumb and the stick.  If you see it wearing out or coming unglued, check the stick to make sure that there is no wear being caused on the stick as well. If there is, it might be time for a new grip.

Eyelet Replacement.

Eyelet replacement is a common issue. The bow will refuse to catch in the eyelet and you won’t be able to tension your bow. The eyelet is brass and intended to strip out if there is extra tension applied to it. This protects the rest of your bow from unneeded stress and could alert you of other issues with the bow.

Tip Replacement.

There are a few different options when it comes to tips. Most of the time when a tip is broken off it is best to replace it with what was originally on. Learn about a rather new product called Tip Armor, a good option for international travelers.

Spline.

Though a break to the head is devastating, certain breaks can be repaired with a spline.

Straightening.

If you notice that your bow is not pulling in quite the way it used to it might be time to check the straightness of the stick. This can be done by bringing it up to tension and viewing it down from the frog end to the head. If you notice that the bow is weaving off to one side the bow might need to be straightened. (Applies to wood bows only)
