Does my bow need a rehair?

Sometimes it’s obvious when you need to send your bow in for a rehair but other times we can get used to playing on old hair and forget to check the bow’s condition. So when considering if you need a rehair ask your bow a few questions…

  • Is the hair always too tight?

  • Can you never seem to tighten your stick to full tension?

  • Do you feel like you’re not able to get enough rosin on your bow?

  • Is there a lot of old rosin layered on that is making your bow sound scratchy?

  • Are you loosing hair each time you play, or is it coming off in chunks?

  • Has the hair turned colors from fresh white to an oxidized yellow?

If any of the above seems to be happening it might be time for a rehair.

If you don’t live around the Nashville area consider shipping your bows in for rehair and repair.
